BAICE at the 2011 UKFIET Conference

Every two years, the British Association for International and Comparative Education (BAICE) holds its annual conference within the UKFIET Conference on Education and Development.   So, this is the BAICE conference too.  This year, BAICE was pleased to offer discounts of £30 to members attending UKFIET.   Given that full BAICE membership is £30, we hope that everyone took advantage of this offer!  We were also able to provide bursaries to two conference delegates from developing countries, to help them to meet the costs of the conference.

There were a number of BAICE events on Wednesday, 14th September.  Our BAICE president, Professor Birgit Brock-Utne of the University of Oslo, delivered her excellent address in the afternoon, on ‘Languages and Inequality:  global challenges to education’.  An abstract is available on the conference website and keep an on our website for future links to Birgit’s full Presidential Address.  This was followed by a lively and well-attended BAICE Annual General Meeting.  In the evening, the BAICE student meeting was hosted by our BAICE student representatives, Anupam Pachauri and Lizzi Milligan.  Students who presented at the conference should also take note of the BAICE prize for the best student conference paper; details of the prize and of how to enter are available elsewhere on the website.
